Encounters: Note from Singapore visit, October 2012

This is just a short note from my visit to Singapore during the past week. I posted last week that I was visiting Singapore for the 3rd edition of Singapore International Photography Festival. Organized by the Singapore-based 2902 Gallery, the festival has been held biennially since 2008. A number of Indonesian friends have attended the previous festivals.

My friends Oscar Siagian and Ahmad Zamroni came to the 1st edition four years ago. In 2010, another friend Johannes P. Christo came as an exhibitor. This year, I came as a visitor. There, I met two MES 56 members who were invited to give talk, and a photographer friend Sandi Jaya Saputra who was showing his work in an evening presentation.

This post will be the first of a series in which I will write about my experience there watching the exhibitions and attending some of the events. This first post is about people I met during my visit.
